C.F. Martin Guitar Company turned 175 years old last August 2008 and still continues to help create wonderful music by manufacturing superb and world-renowned guitars. It is considered as the oldest guitar company in the United States. Christian Frederick Martin Sr.’s humble beginning as guitar maker began in his hometown in Germany when he planned to put up a shop of guitars but was met with resistance from violinmakers. He eventually moved to the United States and set up his first shop in New York until he moved to Nazareth around 1839.
Today’s factory run by current CF Chris Martin IV makes more than 200 guitars a day through its more than 500 employees. Their current lines of Martin guitars include the most popular Dreadnought, the Backpacker, The Road Series, the Golden Era Marqis and a lot more, most of which were also played and adored my music icons such as Jimmy Buffet, Eric Clapton, Sting, Nancy Wilson, Steve Miller, Paul Simon, and a lot more.
