Although considerably new in the industry, Larrivee guitars are among the most priced guitars in the world. Owned and operated by Jean Larrivée Guitars Ltd., these guitars were introduced in the market through Jean Larrivee, regarded as the dean in Canadian guitar making, in the later 1960s in Toronto until it moved to its current base in Vancouver, Canada. The company, through its Larrivee guitars, pioneered the “C” or the cutaway design and have since become an important option in modern acoustics guitar since the design allows a musician in executing different stance in playing guitar especially in a live musical concert. The designs and builds of Larrivee guitars are among the most finely crafted in the world.
Because of the pioneering designs of the company, Larrivee guitars built a reputation with finger style guitar players. It opened its California factory in 2006 and is now looking into vintage looking labels on its new designs.
